IT Load Emulation Service

IT Load Emulators accurately replicate the IT load in terms of both heat production & airflow within the racks.

This enables installers and users to fully test and validate the design performance of the cooling system prior to installation of sensitive and expensive IT equipment.

To date, verification of the cooling system performance has either been achieved through analytical means, e.g., a Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) analysis or through load testing of the datacentre itself by use of electric heaters within the room environment.

Increasing power densities are responsible for much higher heat densities that require systems that remove heat at source; cooling the load, not the room.

Whilst some verification tests utilise load banks to simulate the IT devices, they do not provide accurate simulation of IT equipment as they cannot demonstrate variable air flow parameters and they are not rack mounted.

The AJ+2 IT Load Emulation Service (incorporating the use of IT Load Emulators) has been developed to enable specifiers, installers and users to fully test and validate the performance of the cooling system by accurately replicating the heat source in terms of both heat production & airflow within the racks, demonstrating with certainty that the cooling system will perform as intended when presented with the IT load.

UPDATE: We are now able to replicate up to 1MW of IT Load (subject to availability). Four sizes of emulators available to suit any IT load up to 30KW per rack, ranging from 4Kw – 7.5Kw all fully adjustable on power and air flow.
